Presented by Pat Pixley
Immigrants to the United States brought their Christmas traditions and customs to America, where they encountered new ideas, materials and challenges. Follow the changes from St. Nicholas to Santa Claus; learn the origins of the candy cane and the yule log.
Through examples and artifacts, Pat will explore how Christmas has become the holiday we know today. After the talk, please take some time to wander through the General Crook House Museum and view the beautiful holiday decorations which fill each room.
- The talk is free for DCHS members; A $5 donation is requested of non-members.
- Reservations are required. Please email members@douglascohistory.org or call: 402-455-9990 to reserve your spot.
- The General Crook House will have open hours from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M.
